In this workshop you will learn simple versions of binding, both folded and stitched, together with ways to create content. You will also learn how to alter an existing book.
Artists’ books come in two very basic categories:1] a bound book with content –sketchbook, journal, story, concept, etc. This can take the form of an already existing book which you alter by changing the content, and perhaps the binding, or a book that you create yourself by both binding and filling with content.
2] a book which is created to form a sculptural object – an object of beauty, humour, or to express some concept. This can be an existing book which you alter or a book that you make yourself.
This is designed for bookmaking beginners, or people who already know some binding techniques, but who are interested in filling the books they bind.
