Carol will guide you, using free motion embroidery, to start your journey into creating luscious corded, textural cloth. Many ‘non-obvious’ techniques will be incorporated to create unusual textures, patterns and motifs. These motifs may be formed separately and applied later to the work surface or can be stitched directly onto a project. They are dynamic to use as decoration or to add extra design elements, patterning and textural impact to the surface of quilts and wall art.
At the completion of this workshop students will have stitched a small sampler demonstrating a variety of textural techniques. This sampler can be enjoyed as a small artwork or used as a permanent reference resource.
Students will quickly learn the flexibility of how to use these new contemporary skills in the most ‘non-obvious’ creative ways. With a little practice you will be creating luscious corded, textural cloth and 3D Sculptural forms.
