On Day 1, participants will master basic stitches, then move on to adding height and texture, and combining beads, experimenting with some simple but dramatic combinations and motifs. We will try some fringing and netting and discuss how to take these techniques further and to introduce other materials to your work.

On Day 2, many will be able to start on a small project of their own. At the end of the workshop, new beaders will be able to apply beads with confidence, while those who have already tried bead embroidery should come away with lots of new ideas.

Christine Wheeler lives and teaches in WA and has studied with Dior’s bead embroiderers in Paris. She is interested in achieving density and texture- and making use of fabric, ribbon, novelty beads and found objects.
