NSW Social Days

Social days are much less structured than Branch meetings, and don’t always follow exactly the same pattern. That said, there are some elements that are common to most days – these are listed below under ‘Format’. The main aim of the day is to meet other members and textile lovers, and have a fun day together.

No need to stay all day – come for as much of the day as you are able – we would love to see you there.

Social Day Format

The standard format is as follows:

Library
The library is open for members to browse, borrow and return books throughout the day.

Swap or Sell your Stash!
Some members choose to bring along items from their stash to sell at very reasonable costs, or even to give to other members who can make good use of them. It is always a bit of a mystery to see what may turn up!

Focussed Activity
Most Social Days have some form of short 'focus', such as demonstrations of specific techniques or skills by members, or the opportunity to try out a new skill. We also have working bees before exhibitions. Involvement in these activities is optional. If there is an activity like this planned, it will probably start at 11:00am.

Show & Tell
Members are encouraged to bring items from ATASDA workshops, or any other pieces they would like to show other members. "Works in progress" are welcome, as well as finished pieces - we love to see what you have been up to, and catch a bit of that "contagious creativity".

Time to chat and just do your own thing
Remember to bring along something that you are currently working on.

Opportunity to sign up for ATASDA Workshops and Textile Tasters

Morning Tea - Lunch - Afternoon Tea
You can help yourself to as many cups of tea and coffee as you want, but please remember to bring your own mug, and your lunch. And if you are able to contribute some extra food to share, that is always appreciated.

Information for New Members

Dence Park is a little off the beaten track as far as places to buy food/drinks are concerned. So, it's advisable when you come to meetings to bring your own mug and lunch. Coffee, tea, milk and sugar are available (no charge) from ATASDA's pantry.

We have a Welcome Table at the entrance to our meeting room. When you arrive please let someone know that you are a new member, so they can introduce you to others and welcome you into the group.
