National Grants 2020

National provides funding for the Grants program for all ATASDA members. Wherever you live in Australia you will have access to these initiatives.

This scheme provides funding to ATASDA members living anywhere in Australia to assist with their continuing professional development in textile arts and surface design. Any member who meets all the eligibility criteria can apply for one of the two types of grants.

IMPORTANT. An applicant MUST have been an ATASDA member continuously for a minimum of 18 months up until the time of application, and be a current financial member until all the conditions of the grant have been met.

Grants are offered twice a year:

Round 1 Opens Wednesday 1 January. Applications must be submitted so the Grants Committee has received them by Friday 28 February 2020. Forms received after this date will not be accepted for consideration. Applicants are notified of the outcome by Tuesday 31 March.

Round 2 Opens Monday 1 June. Applications must be submitted so that the Grants Committee has received them on or before Tuesday 30 June, 2020. Forms received after this date will not be accepted for consideration. Applicants are notified of the outcome by Friday 31 July, 2020.

Skills Development Grants

These grants are to enable participation in a course or forum to expand skills in an area of interest relevant to textile art and surface design, or to develop an aspect of the member’s textile art practice, for example, by having an art exhibition or artist residency.

Skills Development Grants have a maximum value of $400.

On-line Grants

These grants are for the study of appropriate textile and surface design related techniques and courses that are offered on-line by reputable providers. Members can apply for financial assistance of up to $200 to participate in this type of learning activity.

How to Apply for a Grant

1.Decide what you want to learn and choose the appropriate activity that will meet your needs. The type of activity will help you decide which Grant to apply for.

2.Complete the application forms for the grant of your choice, either the Skills Development Grant or the On-line Grant. For any grant queries please email Diana Booth, Chairperson of the Grants Committee

3.Prepare and include a budget sheet showing how the money requested will be spent, such as set costs like workshop enrolment fees and materials.

4.Include supporting evidence of your recent work in digital images, or if the application is posted, include images on a USB stick, disk, or DVD, or as printed photographs. Images will need an accompanying brief description of what techniques & materials were used and what the objects are.

5.Submit your application package to the Grants Committee by the specified closing date for the round in which you are applying. Applications should be emailed or posted to The ATASDA Grants Committee, C/- PO Box 426, Pennant Hills NSW 1715.
