Exhibition Opening
Official opening Saturday, 18th August, 2pm.

This exhibition is brimming with artworks created by ATASDA Members from NSW as well as across Australia. It's an exhibition not to be missed if you are in Sydney in August.
Exhibited works
ATASDA NSW is pleased to present this wonderful opportunity to both view and purchase original artworks created by their membership. This is the 6th ATASDA exhibition in the Botanic Gardens which enables the public to share in the exploration of a theme, in this case ‘Fragment’.
ATASDA members, due to their love and passion for textile arts, have the opportunity to produce iconic works within the theme and are exploring this through many avenues. Each participant has found their inspiration from workshops, exhibitions, literature, museums, personal reflections, memories, music, film, landscapes and mindsets, experiences and other media. They have taken the seed of an idea, developed and changed it, asked questions, analysed their concepts and investigated both the familiar, and sometimes the unfamiliar, resulting in extensive exploration and challenging the perceptions of textiles and fibre.
Collaborative Banner Project
Traditionally the Palm House exhibition at has a wall hanging dividing the entry and sales area. Within the keeping of the Exhibitions theme, members of ATASDA (Australia-wide) are invited to participate in the construction of a Fragmented collaboration to create a wonderful textile extravaganza.
Small kits will be created, suggesting a fragment size and shape, along with the colour palette of tones of cream and white, co-ordinating with the screens and the Palm House's interior.
The banner's concept is based on a 'lightness of being' through the use of sheers, whimsical layers and cut outs.
You are invited to make a fragment, which is to be posted back to Kirry Toose. The collected Fragments will them be stitched together at a Social Day/Working Bee July 11th 2012.
Kits, which are free, will be available at NSW ATASDA Christmas meeting or by post.
