In 2014, in honour of ATASDA’s 40th birthday, ATASDA NSW created a fascinating public display at the Sydney Craft & Quilt Fair 2014 at Glebe Island. The display combined a collection of fabulous works from ATASDA members, past collaborative pieces from the ATASDA archive and a display on the theme of Celebrations.
The Celebrations display works were restricted to within A4 size in any technique or medium.
During the show, many talented members demonstrated a variety of different techniques, including adding colour to cloth, making Dorset buttons, bookbinding, machine-stitched jewellery components and beaded fringes, making fabric from scraps and thread, millinery, using the embellisher, jewellery from wire and seed capsules, crocheting rag rugs, making fabric from tissue paper, teabags and newspaper, knitting with unusual yarns like copper and steel and making fabric postcards. These demonstrations showcasing the breadth of ATASDA members’ talents were attended by an appreciative audience!
