About ATASDA

ATASDA was founded in Sydney in 1974 as "The Batik Association" and over time has had a number of name changes:

  • 1974 "The Batik Association"
  • 1976 "The Batik Association of Australia"
  • 1985 "Australian Batik and Surface Design Association" i.e. ABASDA
  • 2003 "Australian Textile Arts & Surface Design Association" i.e. ATASDA

In 2007 Constitutional changes introduced the possibility of forming state branches and groups. Two branches have been established:

  • 2007 Queensland Branch, based in Brisbane
  • 2007 New South Wales Branch, based in Sydney

Lynne was made Life Member in 2007. Lynne has served in many volunteer roles within ATASDA, starting from her very first meeting. She worked as Editor of fibreline for seven years and continues as Advertising Manager. Lynne is also a member of the National Committee.
